This bustling village hugs the shore of East Grand Traverse Bay just northeast of Traverse City. Founded in the 1850s by L.S. Hoxsie, who built a sawmill on Acme Creek, it's best known for the huge Grand Traverse Resort and Spa and the impressive Vasa Trail system, which hosts the annual North American Vasa ski race in February.
